At KV No. 1 Indore, we have diligently implemented the Foundation Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) initiative of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 under the Nipun Bharat Mission. Our commitment to this program is evident from the systematic approach we have adopted. First, we have integrated a dedicated and regular time slot for FLN in our school timetable to prioritize language and numeracy skills. In addition, our teachers have taken the initiative to create their own teaching-learning materials, including worksheets, toys, and puppets to enhance classroom engagement. We constantly plan goal-based activities, promote progressive learning, and regularly use FLN blog activities to reinforce concepts.

To promote a conducive learning environment, our classrooms are equipped with “Jaadu Pitara” and print-rich materials. We also emphasize observation-based learning, where students are encouraged to observe the environment around them and report their findings through reading and speaking. Collaboration is key in our approach, with both teachers and students actively participating in the development of high-quality learning materials, including low-cost toys and puppets.

Subject integration is another important aspect of our FLN implementation. We ensure that all subjects, including language, environmental studies (EVS) and mathematics, are seamlessly integrated into our activities. In addition, teachers are encouraged to design child-centred activities such as storytelling, role-playing, drama and excursions to make learning more engaging. We embrace technology by integrating ICT into our teaching activities and promote play-based learning through games, art, music and dance.

In terms of monitoring, our teachers conduct daily assessments through oral questions, worksheets, games and Vidyapravesh activities to track progress. The Headmaster (HM) plays an active role in daily monitoring and ensuring effective implementation. We maintain open communication with parents, collecting their feedback through monthly parent-teacher meetings (PTMs), phone calls and face-to-face interactions. Administrative meetings chaired by the Principal provide a forum for discussion and problem-solving.

Assessments are conducted regularly, including daily, weekly and monthly assessments, using various techniques such as oral assessments, written tests, group discussions, mini-projects, assignments, computer-based tests (CBT) and group work.

In conclusion, KV No.1 Indore’s systematic approach to implementing NEP 2020-FLN under NIPUN India Mission reflects our dedication to providing quality education and promoting foundational literacy and numeracy. We believe these efforts are in line with the national education goals and contribute to the holistic development of our students.
